it's been a long time, been a long time, lonely lonely lonely.... lalla

yeah. so i'm taking files from my desktop and putting them on my laptop while i wait for my mother to get back from the grocery store so we can make dinner.

news on the knitting front:

Knitting In Engineering has been born. Erica and I have decided that it needs to happen. basically, knitters in engineering at the University of Waterloo can get together and knit one night a week. we're thinking tuesdays. it'll be fun. and even if you're not in engineering, but still at UW or WLU, come one out! it's in an engineering building, so technically speaking, you're knitting in engineering.

i made my first online yarn purchase! so excited. KnitPicks.com was the lucky first time. i got 3 skeins of the baby alpaca in midnight for a shall thing, some sock yarn and a pattern for some lacy socks (AHH!! CHARTS!!!!) and Cat Bordhi's second book. all i want to do is go out and buy a giant circular needle and get mobieus'ing, but i'm on a "try not to buy things" diet, because i do sort of have to save for school.

my eldest cousin is pregnent, which means i need to make 2 baby blankets now, one for her and one for my brothers' basketball coach and his wife. blanket number one is for the coach and wife and is the duck blanket from Vogue Knitting On The Go Baby Blanket's 2. since we don't know whether or not the baby is a boy or a girl, its in a green colour instead of blue or pink. more details and progress pics later. it's allllllllll stockinette which is testing my ability to knit evenly.

still looking for a pattern for a blanket for my cousin. my mom (a non knitter) and i spent at least half an hour in the Needle Emporium in Ancaster a few weekends ago going through every blanket pattern and baby book they had. needless to say, i'm in love with baby clothes and can't wait until i have a first cousin once removed, or is it second cousin? who knows.
